Des and the Swagmatics

Des and the Swagmatics is an Asbury Park based five-piece band on a mission to get your booty shakin’ by any means necessary! Reborn from the glorious ashes of a storied one-off Prince tribute on Halloween 2014, Des and the Swagmatics pack a sexy blend of R&B, rock, soul, funk and pop sounds in a way guaranteed to make you dance so hard you’ll pull something if you don’t stretch first! Led by vocal powerhouse Deseree Spinks, the Swagmatics are guitarist Randy Preston, drummer-vocalist Craig Lawlor, keyboardist-vocalist Ray Saada, and bassist Kevin Stryker. Coming together over their shared love of Prince’s fearless virtuosity, the raw soul power and harmonies of the great R&B voices of the 60s and 70s, the smooth bass and deep pocket grooves of 90s R&B and New Jack Swing, classic reggae vibes, and iconic 80s synth sounds, a night at a Des and the Swagmatics show is a genre-bending adventure through every way you’ve ever wanted to get down! Known for their original takes on a diverse range of cover songs, Des and the Swagmatics have also released an original self-titled EP, as well as their new single “Back to Blue” with their friends at Telegraph Hill Records. They’re excited to be actively writing and recording material for an upcoming LP! Their high-energy show has brought them to audiences across the east coast, with multiple appearances at their own hometown venues like The Stone Pony and Convention Hall, NYC institutions The Bitter End and Rockwood Music Hall, and residencies at the legendary Green Parrot in Key West. They’ve been honored to open for local legend Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes’ annual New Years Eve concert at the Count Basie Theatre, played New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy’s election night after-party, and were featured in an Emmy-winning news feature about the renaissance of Asbury Park’s music scene. They’ve also won Asbury Park Music Awards for Top R&B Band, Top Female Vocalist, and Top Guitarist.

Ryver Bey

Hailing from the historical seaside gem, Asbury Park, New Jersey, up and coming independent artist, Ryver Bey, is here to prove that she’s a force to be reckoned with! She proves with every chance she gets that entertaining is her heart’s desire. Musically inclined, she began rapping at the tender age of two. She began her professional career as an artist at the age of 6, after being entered into a local showcase competition and winning first place. She has performed on hundreds of shows on the East Coast and has even been featured on FM radio stations such as Hot 97 and Power 105.1.  Her most notable show was with the legendary duo, Eric B & Rakim, which took place in her hometown, Asbury Park, at the legendary Stone Pony. Rakim stopped mid-performance to give Ryver her flowers. He said, "Hip-Hop, it took something to get here and she's the next train to take the next load of people to, you know, hip hop." Ryver has been featured on sold out shows in front of thousands of people with New York rappers - Lil T’Jay, Fivio Foreign, and native Chicago rapper, Lil’ Durk. For those concerts, she was able to sponsor the trip and concert tickets for dozens of children from her neighborhood to attend the concerts with her. She even allowed them on stage to perform with her during her set at the Lil Durk concert. Ryver has also blazed the stage with legends such as Jim Jones, KRS-1, AZ, Redman, Shyheim, Ghostface Killah, Vicious, Treach, & PNB Rock (RIP).  In February 2022, Ryver Bey was honored and given a citation by New Jersey Senator, Vin Gopal, for Black History Month. Ryver was also named Jersey Shore - Most Influential 2024 above the legendary pop icon, Bruce Springsteen. She currently has over 100k followers on Instagram. She has racked up over 800,000 views on YouTube with her first three singles, as well as her tribute to Brianna Taylor and George Floyd on her mash up of NJ Icon, Lauryn Hill’s Doo Wop, entitled Sayhername. With the COVID-19 Pandemic causing many venues to shut down in hopes to prevent the spread of the virus, Ryver was limited to performing. During the pandemic, to stay in connection with her fans and community, she created an LLC for a beverage company. She is the youngest notable business owner and entrepreneur in her area, gaining notoriety from many celebrities and other notable entrepreneurs. “Ryver Bey’s Luxury Lemonade, LLC”, was her way to stay disciplined and also her way to invest into her community. Her lemonades come in several flavors and can be found in over 30 delis and bodegas on the Jersey Shore in the Spring, Summer, and Fall seasons. She is projected to be in over 100 over stores by the end of 2024. Ryver Bey, not only has plans to take over the entertainment industry, but she wants to make sure she always gives back to her community. Ryver is currently writing a book named, "Ryver Bey Takes Over The World" and partnered with The Boys & Girls Club of America to give a sneak preview to the children. The book will be released Spring of 2024. Ryver Bey enjoys doing community service. She does food and toy drives every year to give back to the less fortunate families in her community. Ryver Bey's goal is and has always been to serve first and entertain second. Hopefully, she’ll continue to make Asbury Park and her community proud! Last summer they hit the legendary Stone Pony stage for their first original show. It was a defining moment for the band, opening up audiences to original music that sounds like the best of classic rock, with ramped up energy and Gabby’s sensitive lyrics. Teen Idle

Teen Idle is the musical moniker of NJ-based producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Sara Abdelbarry. In middle school, Sara was convinced she would become a cardiac surgeon – conveniently, her craft still gets to the heart, just with sound instead of a scalpel.  Sara crafts rock music with a pop structure that’s an ode to the heartfelt sounds of ‘60s crooners like The Ronettes meshed with the gritty influence of ‘90s rock and abrasiveness of the guitar sounds of Lindsey Buckingham. Teen Idle's first full-length album Nonfiction is out everywhere now via label H1 Massive. The record debuted in the Top 150 on the NACC radio charts, just two positions below the Foo Fighters.

A Real Human Jazz Band

Audra Mariel has been praised for her unique sound and sincere interpretations of timeless standards. Mariel frequently performs with A Real Human Jazz Band, Tom Monda (guitar), Cody McCorry (bass), and Joe Brown Jr. (drums), and appears with other combos around the tristate area and beyond as well with Night Lights Jazz, Jazz Romanesque, and  others. She had the privilege of touring and recording with Frank Vignola, through whom she also worked with Mark O'Connor, Bucky Pizzarelli, and Al Caiola. After releasing a self-titled album of standards in 2014, she was invited by Jonathan Schwartz to sing at Symphony Space for a Frank Sinatra birthday celebration, and at Birdland for his annual live holiday broadcast in 2016. In addition to her work as a jazz vocalist, Mariel writes and performs original music under the pseudonym “Martin Howth.” Using a loop station housed in a signature green suitcase, she loops and layers live vocals to weave harmonic and lyrical tapestries. All loops are generated live, without the use of pre-recorded tracks, nor digital  effects; varied sound is achieved solely through using and exploring the voice as an instrument. Her debut EP, The Wayward Warbler, was released in December 2018, and the next full-length album, Distant Dissonance, is pending release.

Due to illness, Anointed Friends will no longer be able to join us at Fourth Wave Fest. However, we are happy to announce that acoustic duo, Strumberry Pie, will be performing in their place!

Strumberry Pie

Strumberry Pie was formed in the summer of 2012 by Deedee Montanaro and Laura Catalina Johnson. Deedee and Laura got together to learn and play a few songs at an open mic that summer, but quickly found that ‘a few songs’ just would not do. Since its inception, Strumberry Pie has played original and cover songs as a duo, a trio and a full band in venues big and small throughout the Jersey Shore. Eclectic styles and beautiful harmonies are what you will find at a Strumberry Pie show, where the only requirement of any song we play is that it makes us all feel something true from the vast rainbow of human emotions. Rock, country, pop, latin, grunge, indie, punk, metal (yes, metal)... all genres are welcome so long as it’s good music.
